Tank Backgrounds ?

This takes some more time, is kinda permanent and you will need a dry empty tank. I only did it on my 100l tank but it looks great. I put silicone on the back glass (on the inside) and then stuck my gravel to it, let it lie down on its side with about 2cm of gravel and let it dry. Looks really awesome, like a cave.

Mmmm sounds nice but with fish like Oscar's I dont know if that might be a good idea, they are pretty active and agressive so they might hurt themselves against it.

Just painted the back of my tank at work electric blue and i don't like it.
Hopefully i will get use to it. Should have gone darker.

 

I just got an idea. I can just buy glass the same size as the back. stick all the gravel on it and then just slide it into place without removing all the water or disturbing the fish(to much).

 

I have the one that came with my tank, think its a juwel backgraound, really nice has a root shape and looks really awesome.

 

at around R750 and you need 2pieces,asome but pricey

i saw a china guys tank with gravel siliconed to the back ,lookd kinda cool,he also had cheaper import backrounds ,similar to juwels but of a low quality but at around R150 for 2 pieces its cheap,black vinyl is what i settled on for my juwel ,as the juwel backrounds were to grey and all pieces were differet in color ,

 

They are pricy indeed!, Previous owner had stated he paid R500 for the two pieces in my tank, but once the algea,plants and other little things grow on them hay look really good.
im sure one can make these themself but to get that look will be difficult? I wouldnt mind putting one of these in my older tank but at that price.Guess id rather buy another canister filter for the tank.
I do admit i like the way the plants tend to grow on the backgrounds.Looks really natural.

 

I will take some measurements of my tanks and dig through the internet for ideas.
