Tank Bursts/Cracks - Please share your horrors

    im no electrician, so heres my logic: jager...hopefully shuts down. Cheapy heater overheats cracks sparks and hope it trips breaker before any flame travels down wire. Pump runs dry gets extremely hot as impeller wears out, casing melts and hope somethin shorts before flames develop. Because what if the pane to which the heater pump is attached breaks and the heater or pump falls on carpet or wooden floor? The glass is always half empty for me!

    @disco - Ahh, but if yor tank has cracked then the carpets and floor are wet therefore no fire :bigsmile:

    but the wiring can burn and make a big heap of ash from your house

    earth leakage should cut in before it burns the house down.

    not to say its impossible to happen , but would be a final destination view.

    but your heater is in the tank or sump, if that s covered and the tank cracks ( not shatters and send the heater on to the carpet) any sparks would likely be contained with in the tank same with the pump.

    would prolly burn out the pump, and heater. and thats abt it.
