    Diy co2

Cool so I just built myself a diy CO2 Reactor. Seems to be working well but oh the smell . I'm using an air stone for now but i know thats not good enough. I read that chopsticks work well but i found that it made bigger bubbles campared to my air stone. I've just still got to silicone the Bottle tops. I see I tiny amount of CO2 is escaping.
It builds up quit a lot of pressure. I can see sugar and yeast powered Electricity stations popping up soon hehe.

I added CO2 about 2 days ago but using 1 5L aquelle` bottle. 2L bottles handle about 15bar of pressure before failing so I thought this 5L would handle more and enable me to use a Dazs diffuser....but it didn't work??? so I have changed to an air stone and reduced the mixture so it releases slowly.

Your mix seems to be working very fast....too fast for the CO2 to actually dissolve in the water. Use a clothes peg on your airline to reduce flow...or change your mix.

ideally you want pinhole sized bubbles for maximum efficiency with an airstone...

I don't really care how much gets dissolved in my tank....I'm dosing excel anyway so my carbon is sorted....

I will change to a decent CO2 diffuser as soon as i find one somewhere. But for now its fine. The bubbles are almost gone by the time it reaches the top.

    I've got a question.
Is there such a thing as too much CO2. one of my angels and my ghost knife are both on their sides at the bottom of the tank.
The CO2 has only been running for about 2 hours
I've stopped the CO2 for now.
All the other fish seem fine

@Franna You’ve got to remember that Co2 is pushing oxygen out of the water, and it also messes with your PH if you add too much.
Now I don’t know exactly how much Co2 you have to add to suffocate your fish. But it does need to be monitored properly at least until you find the sweet spot where the Co2 doesn’t affect your Ph.

Woohoo 2 of my Bolivian rams were liplocking. I hope they are male and female and not just 2 fighting males. I want to see some eggs.

And i removed the DIY CO2 the day after I put it in after my one angle sadly died.

Plants are growing well. Here is an update. But the tank really needs a rescape and something new.

    Looking good dude

DIY CO2 is not as good as the Prez CO2, so you can pump it in the tank, and the fish should be fine! I had one running on my 3ft tank, and i was running it at 2bps and i did not loose one fish.

tank is looking cool bud, but i think you need some more plants!
