So my little sister wants to have something living around her while she's at campus. So she wanted 2 pea puffers.
I went and got 5 juvenile pea puffers. Unfortunately the are really shy in their new home so no good photos yet.

They are half the size of my female. Might remove the guppies and plecos from the other size of the tank and try breed them. If I find a male in the bunch.

Now with lockdown coming soon I need to stock up on frozen food for the puffers. I'm also able to setup my new 3ft tank I'm excited as it's my first coldwater tank.

Puffers are eating bloodworm now. And the 3ft is setup and going through cycling. Used aquarium water and a cycled sponge filter to kick start the cycle. IMG_20200325_105318.jpg

Saw one of them getting aggressive in the holding tank. So I moved them to the 3ft with my adult pea puffer. I was surprised that they were schooling a bit. IMG_20200325_182813.jpg IMG_20200325_182331.jpg

Got them from Peet in Roodepoort. I should have taken more than 5 in hindsight. A few customers at the work were looking for them.

So the new cold water 3ft is done and stocked. Honestly thought that it would take longer now I have my sister's puffer tank to setup. I will probably do a DIY lighting after the lock down. 15852453340001006411369.jpg

Had a bit of a problem with the tank. A fungus outbreak happened in the tank. Within a few hours Chungus developed white fungus patches on his skin. The cause of it was too much organic material in the water. Solved it with a 25% water change, a little salt to help with the slime coat and a few drops of methylene blue for the fungus. Completely cleared up in 2 days.

Saw the fungus at 3am and was freaking out a bit. Realised what it was and saw that Chungus was still behaving normally.

Feeding large pieces of butternut cause alot of messy water but the plecos love it. Decided to move what was in the cold water 3ft in to the 2ft and move everything from the 2ft and my pleco breeding tank in to the 3ft. Was becoming alot more maintenance as the 2ft has about 50 fish in it. About 30 are pleco babies.

Everything from the 2ft. 53 baby plecos, 7 super red plecos, 16 sterbais corys, 4 pepper corys, 3 juli corys, 3 agassizii corys. I'm surprised at how many sterbais there are as I only had 3 to start with.

Power has been out for me since 10pm yesterday. My tanks were at 17C and only at 1pm did my corys start showing signs of problems. I started warming their tank water on the gas stove one bowl at a time only to told the power would only come back on earliest tomorrow so over 24 hours with no electricity. I've been running my ac dc air pump on each of my tanks for an hour but the temperature is the real issue.

So I'm going to take them to a friend who has electricity and a generator just incase.
