The Filter Thread

Hey guys,

Instead of posting pics of you tank, please post only pics of your filters in this thread. I'd like to see if there's a huge variety or if everyone is sticking to more or less the same setup.

I'll take a pic of mine tonight and post it tomorrow!

I dont have a pic but im running 3 cannisters on 1200L community and heavy planted tank. 2x cascades 1200 and a aqua via. Turning water 2,5 times per hour but have low bio load, deep substate(silica sand) and lots of plants. The two Cascades have filter wool, ceramic noodles and bio ballz in. The Aqua via have wool, carbon and Zeolite. (not running permanetly).

 

Do you canisters have built-in pumps, or are you pushing via a powerhead/similar? Your setup sounds pretty solid!

 

Yes Shibby, if i look at al the indicators it would seem that the filtration is working. All the canisters i have have build in pumps. The one cascade deposits water via a spraybar and the other horisontally to create circular flow.(with the help of 2 additional filterless powerheads)

 

Very thorough ;-) I also have a spraybar and horisontal inlet to create clockwise flow heading into my overflow box, while the spraybar bounces off the side sweeping the substrate all to one side, making maintenance easy!

 

So you running sump filter then?

 

Yup I am... WAAAAY too small though. And lacking in media... Which is why I started this thread in order to see what the majority of the people are using.

 

Im using a 50l sump on my 150l tank. And a 1200 canister filter on my 360l.

If i could use a sump on my 360l i would!

 

250L tank with a 25L sump...i see. i would stay with the sump setup just get a bigger one. 50L?

 

That's why I've got a WANTED thread for a 3ft tank... *SHiBBY bats his eyes at @TroyFish* That 3ft will become my new sump and it's gonna be legend-... wait for it... -dary!

Also running a Re-Sun 900 L/PH Power-head that is attached to cartridge with some batting and filter wool.

Yup, that's my UV sterilizer... It sorts out all the remaining nasties before returning water to the tank.

3600 l/h pump wich is a bit too strong IMO
