@DewaldC how can you ask where, if you posted the same link as I did, and in the link it states no trading, no releasing?

As with everything else in this world please read the disclaimer.

Now, as much as everyone else, we would all like to hear that they are leagal...and yes no where on the list they mention shrimp. But the disclaimer says clearly that it is not always accurate.

If they are not on the BL, then why is everyone going on about them coming into SA?

Lets bring them in and lets sell and trade?

There is a difference between importing and keeping shrimp in south africa.
e.g.) we are allowed to keep hair grass in SA,but we are not allowed to import it into SA.

I choose to believe a government website over stupid people on a fish forums.

For years there were people on TASA saying it's illegal to keep hair grass in SA.
    Guess what ,they were lying.:notrust:
I would love to know, who started the rumor that shrimp are blacklisted on TASA?.

Maybe it is a rumour...maybe its not true, and according to the list shrimp is not BL.

I have send them an email, maybe they would be so kind to clear it up, once and for all.

With that disclaimer as a argument, I can argue that Guppies are on the BL too  AFAIK, pretty much anything can, and cannot be on the BL. So the information on their web site basically means squat. I know of a few LPSs that started (few months ago), keeping and selling large amounts of Red Cherries. I also have a fair amount of them in my tank and they do absolute wonders. Untill someone provides definitive proof that they are in fact on BL, I don't see the problem at all...

Ja, i didnt start this thread to create arguments or point fingers and try to prove people wrong or right, the purpose was just to get an answer, and after this uhm discussion, its defentitely clear that know one knows if they are allowed to come into SA or not.

Maybe someone @ customs is just trying to make more money, by excepting bribes for bringing them in? Who knows....?

Maybe we will never know :suspicious:

So as i am typing this, I decided to phone the South African department for agriculture, this specific department takes care of fresh water fish etc. I have now spoken to 6 different people, and they asked me to phone cape town, CT then asked me to phone Pretoria, who then asked me to phone CT, now I`m back @ Pretoria holding.....its a dam joke!

This proofs that no one knows, not even the Department of Agriculture??????????????????????????? :dontknow:

    Update

I have had a mail from the
    Deputy Director: Aquaculture Authorisations
    Directorate: Sustainable Aquaculture Management
Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries

I have spoken to her over the phone as well, and I have forwarded the many unanswered questions that we have to her, she said she will be off today, so hopefully I get an answer soon.
Will post her answers here, once received.

Holding thumbs for some good feed back.
