    Just some info.
The new list has been signed by the minister and published in the Government Gazette(No 36683) on the 19th July of this year already. It is NOT an amendment or "add on" of the previous list, but replaces the old list.

    Act.jpg
It seems to me that everyone just want to argue and NOT accept the fact that there is a new list in place, and that the Government and related Structure do not even know what is happening.

What is done is done and if you want to go by law then accept the new BL and stop arguing about it.

Some interesting new BL species is .Killifish,Plecostomus,Certain Trout species,Some more Catfish Species,Some more minnows,All Tilapia(Watch out PicknPay:sick:).

Yes, saw the Killi fish, I could not make out if that covers all the species, or only some, as the list for Killis is huge? Any ways, if shrimp is not on there, then lets hope we can negotiate something?

I have only mentioned these in my email, dont want to make the list to big, lets call it baby steps.

Here is a email I received from someone that have mailed the

The South African Pet Traders Association

This ia a direct copy and paste of the mail

"The Black List refers to the importation of aquatic organisms and not the possession. Thus if you possess exotic (not indigenous) species of freshwater shrimp then they must have originated from an importation that was smuggled into the country; either directly or indirectly as I am sure that people must be breeding these exotic shrimp by now. There is no law against the trade in indigenous species of freshwater shrimp."

@DewaldC the response is slightly confusing, that was exactly my reply. But what I do understand, or think I understand, is that local species from SA is legal to trade with, and if u have exotic species from a blacklist, its not legal to trade, but legal to keep.

Question is, if speciel like the normal cherry inbreed with our species, then its ok to keep and trade with them, regardless, cause here i see a loop hole.

The other question is, if you check the black list on their site, there is no shrimp species, only fish and plants, so we still want to see this so called BL with all shrimp species on?

I wont bother with trying to get any type of answer out of the government using the normal channels be it phone or e-mail. I have several claims I have put in against the road accident fund and after a year I am still waiting, but I will keep at it because I pay taxes and tollgate monies so they can improve the roads. Problem here is 90% of government officials are only at work to get paid nothing else, they try and get by doing the minimum amount of work with the minimum amount of effort. That is why we are seeing al these new legislations getting past, but I can tell you know 99% won't get properly enforced because there is just not enough resources to enforce it.Also remember when everyone rallied to attend a local government meeting regarding the new blacklist? And they were asked to send their e-mails and concerns to a few e-mail addresses but for some reason they all bounced back? Well I can tell you now that the fact those e-mails bounced back only means that someone somewhere was/is going to benefit from it being implemented be it via a tender, so they decided to cut off all the concerns before they could be heard.

    Only Blacklist I enjoy following:

    So here we go

    Copied and pasted from email

So here we go, copy and pasted.

    Dear Mr. Hennie le Roux

Firstly, let me apologise for the delay in responding you query and thank you for your patience . Currently we are only regulating freshwater species due to the legislative mandate of the Marine Living Resources Act. I have queried the issue regarding the import and keeping of the various shrimps with the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) and have checked the alien invasive regulations with regard to your query on the following species:
    Neocaridina heteropoda- red cherry
    Neocaridina heteropoda- red sakura
    Caridina cantonensis- red crystal
    Caridina cantonensis- black crystal
    Caridina sp.-cardinal sulawesi
    Neocaridina hetropoda- rili shrimps
    Caridina multidentata

It appears that the species are not listed on these regulations, but I stand corrected. Additionally, I have been advised the DEA Biodiversity Unit that until these regulations have been implemented, regulation is done at a Provincial level by the Gauteng Permitting office at (011) 240 2500/3359/3370. Further information regarding Biodiversity issues can be obtained from the following official:

    Then

    Dear Hennie

If a species is not black listed, you may be allowed to import it provided it complies with the Provincial regulations. Please contact the Gauteng Permitting Office first and discuss this with them.

Shipments are stopped at Customs for various reasons including non-compliance to regulations. The permitting office will be able to specify the application process and the requirements that you need to comply with.

    Then

    Dear Mr Roux

Could you please clarify what shrimps you are referring to. We only have one shrimp on our list of invasive species, which is a marine species:
