    Hey Guys.

So after walking through a lfs in pta north and seeing blue and red fresh water shrimp for the first time (they were blacklisted back when I was still active on the forum) I decided to start my tank again.

So I got a trailer and fetched it from my moms garage where it was stored for about 3 years.

I decided I'm going for a planted community tank.

I still need to decide on live stock but that's coming.

The tank has been cycling from Saturday and its got about a week and a half left.

I'm using black graval and brown red slate rock.
I want to get some floating plants. Saw some at the lfs but if I remember correctly they were blacklisted. (Small floating leafs and roots. They multiply fast).

I'm very out of it when it comes to fish knowledge so it's research time.

I'm going to buy 2 14watt LED tube lights. They are VEEERRRYYYY Bright. Might not be for fish keeping but we will see how they work. +- R500

    Will keep this updated

    SO update.

    I Bought 2 LED lights.

    2 x Fittings R55 each

    2 x 1.2m 220v 16 watt LED Lights 6500k R270 each.

    They are very bright.

I made small mistake with the size. 1.2m is just just to big to fit in straight.

I think this will look very nicewith some plants. What would be a good grass like plant. something that can spread fast.

Hmm nice one to watch. Lights look very interesting.
My humble opinion...I would some of the small rocks in front to the left, behind the 2 small ones, then one behind that nice stack in the back. I could be wrong though :)

Looks like you have some Dracaena in the mix (second from the left) best plant it in a pot in the house.

Maybe print this article out ... 21 plants to avoid in the aquarium | Features | Practical Fishkeeping

Also not sure if your anubia's [FONT=arial, sans-serif]rhizome are sufficiently above the substrate. Java ferns also have a rhizome so they are best tied to stuff.

Hi there. Are those LED lights in tubes? Do they need a driver? How hot do they get? Thanks.

hehe Nice to meet you guys to.

Yip they are in tubes. You can touch them. They are slightly warm to the touch but not warm at all.

They only need a fitting. Connect the Live and Neutral and bam It works. All the drivers and electronic goodies are inside the tube.
