Umgeni River/Building Sand

    Is Umgeni Sand safe to use in an aquarium? Can this be an alternative to regular Silica Sand?

    Really want to create a more lake like look in my tank.

    I cannot say if it is suitable or not, but in terms of legalities, it is against the law to just go and dig up buckets of sand from a river system. So I would hope for arguements sake that this would be from a legit supplier, rather than a personal gathering?

    No, I have 3 bags full of this supposed "Umgeni river sand" already from a previous concreting we did at home.

    you dont know what is in it, whats it made out of, whats its buffering, any cat pee? dog pee?

    To many veriables - rather use washes silica as it is innert
