We have two in Secunda one in Bethal and one in Evander. The one in Evander has the best range of food at reasonable prices. His fish are healthy and reasonably priced for the area. The big one in secunda [ the one you found ] very expensive with their food, the fish are reasonably priced but i always see lots of dead fish in their tanks, so i don't buy from them. The small one in Secunda reasonably priced food and fish, the cheapest plastic plants i've seen anywhere, fish in good health but not a lot of variety. Bethal ps used to be good but since change of ownership has gone down hill. When you come though here i'll give you directions to all the ps in the area.

Look for a skeleton, cos I'm pretty sure that's all you'll find.

I have posted pic's of those tetras in my album, if i use the flash they show up green and without the flash they are blue. [ sorry about photo quality i think the only way to get the little buggers to hold still is to tape them down onto a flat surface ] Hope someone will be able to id them.

Thanks Big G, i got them with the tank so i don't know where they came from unfortunatly there's only four of them left. One female and three males. Are they difficult to breed, i haven't seen them spawn like the other tetras [ maybe i just miss the event when it happens ]

OK, i was having a good chuckle at this thread until you said that, what meds take out snails???? My substrate moves on its own and they p!ss my plecos off all the time.....

As for a DIY snail trap,
1: Take a coke bottle, cut the top off about 1/3 of the way down
2: Weight it dowm with small stones, then toss in a small amount of food 3: Dump it in the tank overnight. In the morning just empty them out and 4: Start again at number 2......

Been reading Dolphins post about the dragonfly nymph that he found in one of the tanks. They are hunters and will eat small fish. Could that perhaps be the reason you are losing fish. Or has that ground been covered.

I think its just the tetras eating each other. I got some corys yesterday and put them in with the tetras BIG MISTAKE this morning i found two of my corys with their tails eaten off, unfortunatly both died. The tetras are skating on thin ice today. I very nearly took them to the petshop. I've been wanting corys for ages and when i finally get them this happens. [ can't tell you how angry i am at the tetras] At least the other 4 corys are ok i got them out of the tank super quick.

Its possible that the Corys were not in 100% health??

Tetras that I've kept seem to have a 6th sense with regards to sick fish, and will bite and nip at them! Sometimes they keep going until the sick fish is dead, sometimes just till they hide away somewhere!

I would think it more likely the cause?

Would have helped to have known which tetras were attacking the corys tho!

    Cheers
    G!

This happened through the night so i didn't see which ones did it. When i put the corys in i watched the tank for about an hour or so to make sure everything was ok, the tetras didn't even seem interested in the corys at all. Everyone was still ok when i did the lights out check, the next morning two corys had no tails. What can i say, i don't think that i will ever add any other fish with the tetras again.

Shame! I hope you do add other fish!

Maybe try to add an Oscar! Then we'll see who's tails get nipped! haha! No seriously, don't add an Oscar! I was joking!! My friend added one to his tank and it ate 22 fish!

    Cheers
