I do about 25% at a time, have a plastic container enough for water change, fill this with a hose, get water chemistry and temperature right.. drop in a submersible pump and fill up the tank in a few minutes.. I have a 270L and from that size and bigger i'm too lazy to use a bucket and i like to get the water right before just filling up..

Depends what your goal is .. crystal clear water - every week. Or try this, a green water tank. Guppies love it, no filter just rain and loads of sunlight ... viz might not be that great 5 - 30 mm

I do about 50 % every two weeks...except for my Discus...i read an article about major water changes benefiting discus health and really helping them grow at a normal rate as discus secret a stunt hormone that allowes the big fish to get big so that he becomes dominant..allowing him to bully for food etc..dont know how true the article was but after doing this for two months with a newly aquired pair of Royals it works..my LFS got three in i got the two nicest fish, the LFS obviously dose not do major water changes..my fish are almost three times as big as the one i did not take..so ya i will continue doing 80% water changes as it seems to be helping..oh just for the stat freaks my PH and TEMP are the same going in as im taking out..and i think tomo im gonna go fetch the other discus that has not sold yet ...give him a home too lol

spelling sucks buy you know what ti mean

I do a 25% water change every two weeks. I think it depends on the size of your tank and how efficient your filter systems are. But on the other hand I was doing 25% water changes on my discus tanks every 4 days and the fish were thriving.

I suggest to people to do between 10-20% weekly. The amount will be largly dependant on the stock level, amount of filtration you have and the amount of food given. I find that most people, including myself some times, tend to over feed.
What is "as much as the fish will eat in 2-3minutes"? I have Tinfoil barbs that would more than likely eat a 100grams of flake in the time if they were given it.
I have also experienced that if you have bottom feeders, cory's etc, the tank tends to be a lot cleaner than if not.

Our water change schedule depends on the tank in question - some daily, some weekly and some monthly. Same goes for the quantity of water replaced.

I do a 25% water change twice a week in two tanks. One a 450l with
discus in and one a 300l tank with angels.
Hard work, but my fishies seems healthy and happy!
