I'm a Shaft Ventilation Engineer, currently on a Platinum mine, but have been involved on Gold and Diamond mines as well....

It basically entails the supply and control of ventilating air for the underground section of a mine to remove pollutants and gases (maintaining livable temperatures and environment) and then also to do with elliminating all kinds of pollutants associated with mining operations and any other aspect that has to do with occupational hygienne.

What do you do for a living, and what does it entail???

I photograph a lot of weddings mostly but I will be specializing in commercial advertising and advertising design.

I basically get booked by couples to shoot their wedding/reception photos for like 5 hours or so. You really become a food guru once you attended 50+ weddings a year.

Nothing difficult about my job. I love it so much that I see it as having fun and getting paid for it! :D

Studied nature conservation @ Saasveld in George, but never worked in it....started working @ my LPS when I was 14...so after studying, went back to what I knew...joined a good koi outlet in Cape Town where I was for 8 years....Then retail manager of a large specialist aquarium and koi store in Fourways for 4 years....Left that and had my own little Restuarant in a tiny Eastern Cape rural town - a year ago moved back to Pretoria where I now own my own koi shop run from an exclusive cycad nursery...Do some exportation of cycads around the world for the nursery as well as sales/plant I.D / general cycad advice....One of the lucky few to have my hobby as my job....

Wow, everybody has really successful careers going. Makes me wonder about the affordability of this hobby.

Any DEAT member would like to list what they do for a living . . . ?

@ tankmaster: Just what I said....Once you get past killing guppies/neons and angels from your LPS (not even mentioning mixing them with with that "cute" little Oscar....) and start getting into "real" fishkeeping,do you realise that the paycheck don't quite meet your aspirations....

PS:Remeber, you still gotta pay import duties on those orders,THATS the REAL killer....
