DUDE! if you dosing flourish comp that's all the traces you need also has a high amount of iron. so dont waste you money on extra trace maybe get iron but im pretty sure if you up the flourish comp you will get more than enough.co2 is a limiting factor in your setup, and given your fish load im sure you have plenty N&P.i was told plants turn read because they want to reflect the light they not using as much.its there way of putting on sunscreen lol. so a nice grow lux wont hurt its very high in the red blue spectrum! but only once you get your co2 system. but nutrients also play a role low N and high P also help plants go very red.

they are sylvania gro lux they will be available at any light store just ask for them. they put out a very cool pink light designed to grow plants hence GRO lux lol.

i would first get the co2 then add the light and see what happens before adding more ferts..

allow 1 watts per 3 to 5 litres of water.
Table : a guide to lighting, calculated by watts per litre of water for a tank 33 to 45 cms deep*

1 watt per 4 litres is dim lighting
Few plants will grow but brown algae will

1 watt per 3 litres is moderate light
most aquatic plants will grow well

1 watt per 2 litre is strong light
for light-loving plants or lush growth

1 watt per 1 litre is intense light
    minimum needed for corals

EXAMPLE: Dividing the number of litres in the tank by 3 will give a guide to moderate lighting level by watts; thus for a 210 litre tank, (210 ¸ 3) = 70 watts of light minimum. * This is a rough guide and works because capacity is a factor of aquarium size and it is assumed that the tank is no deeper than 45 cms.

how true is this,if it is the case then i would need a moderate 113 watts(a bit more i assume cause my tank is a bit deeper)i have 216w at the moment and the tank is 340l is it to much or to little?

i will try find the article for you but there is a huge mathematical way to calculate it but the WPG rule is a very ruff way to guestimate. been working for everyone so far so i guess its fine. just remember you NEED co2 if you want to up light otherwise algae will be a real problem i say this from experience. if you want better light penetration then you need to go with MH or LED but im sure T5's are fine. i think above 2or3wpg you need co2 but there are so many other factors like is your water clear,do you use reflectors, the area of water surface blah blah blah i will try find the article but just use the WPG rule and you will be fine i do...i got so involved into lighting an aquarium i had so much conflicting information and made my own decission at the end of the day have a look at this http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/lighting.htm

probably does as the lux and lumen on t5's are WAY higher than t8's...

id say 4x54 t5 over you tank is more than enough shihr didnt you have this over your 340l if so you got amazing growth if i can rememer...?
