Where to get Cardinal tetra's at a good price?

Hi,

I cant post yet in wanted section, so asking members here where to get healthy strong Cardinal tetra's in proximity of fourways Jozi at reasonable prices.. Looking more for hobiest than petshops/sponsors unless their prices are well within reason.

It is called a cardinal tetra please!

These fishes are all imported and are not bred locally, they are caught in the Amazon. Sorry.. not native english and dutch we spell it as kardinaal tetra's.

I know dorry pets has some nice cardinals.

 

It all depends on what you are willing to pay. If you want quality you are going to pay more. Nice healthy fish that will have a long life when kept in the right environment. The cheap stuff will die on you in just a few day. Choice is yours.

 

Yeah quality is important. Anyone knows what the going rate for cardinals is?

 

Last time I checked it was around R22 per fish... and even then I didn't think that was too badly priced to be honest!

The best way is to order a batch from you petshop and do some negotiation.
I have seen them going for between 23-25 rand around town.

 

Also guys... please remember that Cardinals are usually wild caught (hence the price tag), and should undergo strict quarantine procedures before you introduce them to your other tank mates!

Yea, not sure if you have some "kardinals" already, but ideally try and source your new batch from the same origin, so you don't mix Brazil wild farmed and captive Singapore bred fish together, as you could end up wiping out both batches ! It’s therefore safer to buy your cardinal shoal all together. Travel casualties can be high, so ideally make sure your LPS has been keeping them for ten days or so. Similar to most fish, cardinals don’t enjoy new set-ups, but once settled in they are a hardy and rewarding fish and will usually out live their cheaper cousins, neons!

Have picked them up in the Cape for R11 a fish
