WHY DO MY GUPPIES DIE?

The wood tree thing is actually a plastic decor from my LFS and the 2 rocks are from a lake close to me but I did treat the rocks and I have taken my water to my LFS for a full check coz at a stage that’s what I thought it was but they said my water was perfect.

Honestly I’m thinking just starting with different fish and leaving the guppy hobby behind haha...

Are all the deaths from the same LFS?

Maybe your water parameters are very different to theirs?
Fish take much longer to adapt to water conditions, the dripping process helps but i dont think after drippinf them in for an hour they would be fully adapted.
I would try another shop or breader and see if resuts are any different. And send the CAE to fish court. I think he should be sentence to death by freezing!. Unless u can find a jail that will take him for life.

I have sent them down the toilet a few days ago and now I’m rebuilding my tank and it’s busy cycling, I’ve changed the gravel but kept the plants. And not all of them were from the same LFS but I have noticed that the younger ones have been the ones thatve survived...

 

WTF. I realy hope that you have euthanized them before flushing them. Flushing live fish can and will cause problems down the line for our local fishes as well as our hobby. Even flushing dead fish can cause problems. Be responsible please.

Just to clarify myself. Flushing fish, weather alive or dead, isn't responsible fish keeping.

Numerous people here is trying to help you sort out a problem you might have in your tank.

You don't clearly care for others oppinions regarding this matter and then sarcasticly comment that you did a longer acclimation with the newest batch of fish.

The replies you gave to your water test. There is slightly more to water chemistry than just ph and GH.

Even though you have a problem of fish dying you still go back to the pet shop and get 10 guppies for free two days later! Why did you not return the cae to the pet shop on that day?

Yes this is a harsh reply to your last comment. Being an aquarist is much more than having a glass container with crystal clear water in it. I take my hobbie very serious, and I know that there are others on here that feels the same.

If you ask for help, read the helpers replies and take it to hart. By being hard headed and doing your own thing, will not help for future problems.

I don’t have the time to go back and forth with your petty attempts to make me feel bad, just leave me alone. I am new to this and I am trying my best and you’re being rude and disrespectful.

 

This is what I love about this hobby - we have no silver bullet !!!! From observation the success in the hobby shows some relationship to the EQ one approaches challenges with. Consuming vast amounts of data does not guarantee that the correct action plan is followed. In the end it is about applying what you read that builds experience - good or bad. In this case and still trying to answer the OP's question "WHY DO MY GUPPIES DIE?" I have drawn a blank on what to probe for next ... and maybe the answer is as simple as - because living things die at some point.

For future archival view of this thread - please understand that times change, people move on and are missed , some stay in the hobby and others are like a WC - needed but quickly forgotten, but it should never be personal.

When you do have a hard time keeping XYZ alive - then sitting back and do nothing ( for now ) might be the better option.

I also had a similar issue with guppies, have not tried them since. Try to acclimate over several hours, not just one or two. If the water chemistry is too different osmotic shock can occur leading to rapid death.

We need more details, ammonia and nitrite are probably 0 if the other fish are okay. Unless there is death there too. What are you testing with? I hope not strips and a pH pen. Liquid tests or proper pH probes are much more accurate since the electrodes on cheap pens perform poorly in softer water and just generally aren't great.

Get yourself some good stock, acclimate slowly and be gentle on them.
