@Corne Well my opinion is if you get them and look after them at least you giving them a better life then if some fool like I once was buys them and keeps them in a goldfish bowl(not that I did this but I mean I bought fish with no knowledge of how to care for them at first) or they just slowly rot away in LFS like I have seen at some of my LFS. Some may say hey but then you supporting the trade but they there anyways and I would rather they were looked after then left to rot. Just my opinion :)

Man-made parrot fish is an absolute disgrace!
I don't have anything against the fish itself- poor things.
If they stay for a long period in the LFS, they will realize that it does not sell fast, and will probably not buy them again.
When you buy them, YOU create the demand!
If more people leave them, they will move slow.
Please do not support this trade...

@Corne, Sorry to do this to you but after thinking about what Gert said he is right. What I see as giving a fish a better life, a LPS will see as a demand and as sad as it is its better I guess for a few to suffer and then kill the demand, then for it to appear as if there is a demand. Sorry to change my opinion.

Some people really like them and say they have a lot of character. If you really do like them look out for rescue cases, i.e., people who have the fish and no longer want them or aren't looking after them properly. That way, you're not supporting the trade, but you can still give a needy fish a good home.
