    Hi Duewyne,

I would love a pair, but in my one book it says not to house them with other cichlids. I am wanting to put them into my 3ft community tank but I have a Blue Ram male in there, would they be ok?

How often do you breed with them? I bought a pair at my lfs and they only lasted about 4 days .:bawling: I'm very taken with them and I would love to keep a pair at least.

    Many thanks
    Kim

    hi kim

hmmm i cant guarantee you a pair, these are the the 1st apisto's i've bred and managed to bring up  and their too hard for me to sex, so maybe take all 3 and hope for the best?

im not too sure how compatible they'l be with rams... but i can advise you to never keep them with kribs! if i remember correctly i think @shihr used to keep his with the golden rams and they were fine, but his tank is bigger than a 3foot! so i guess it would come down to how big your ram is and how much teritory his claimed in the tank? these babies are only around the 2cm mark, so they might just be easy picking if your ram is aggressive.

ya the golden rams were actually smaller than the apistos.. there would be small squabbles but they'd leave each other alone.. no long term harrasing..

im keeping the apistos with key hole cichlids now and so far no problems :)

@shihr My Ram is still small about 2/3cm's and he can't "claim" any territory because I don't have any caves that he can move into at this stage (I'll post pics soon). I also have some Norman's Lampeyes that are really tiny still, and there is no problem with them or any of my bottom feeders.

@duewyne Please can I reserve the last three from you. I really want to try my hand at breeding these awesome little fish. I've been able to breed all sorts of things that should not have bred so easily and at the moment I have Krib babies floating around in my 6ft, so the Kribs now have 3 quarters of the tank, and the rest of my fish are anly allowed a quarter to swim in. They are pretty ok not really agressive.

Please PM me with your details and a time and day to be able to collect.

Oops:embarrest:... I kinda forgot bout that, but so far he is not showing any aggressive tendancies, so I think that now might be the ideal time to get the little dudes...
